Our Stewardship this year expand to the Wild Flower Meadow
On Saturday May 27th, Our main Planting day; We need your help!
On Saturday May 13th the 132nd, Kiwanis East York & BCG started the 2017 Forest Meadow. After 15 years of tree planting at Taylor Creek Park, 45 Volunteers turned to the task of preparing for planting Wildflowers behind the tree line.
And what a successful day, perfect weather, great Volunteers of all ages and a heap of forest stewardship in preparation for May 27th Planting.
SO.... please come out on Day 2 - On Saturday May 27th, we continue clearing & complete our planting of our first ever - Wildflower Adventure, developing a true Forest Meadow in Taylor Creek Park. All volunteers are welcome

May 13th - a very successful day - What we did!
We cleared the Forest Meadow area for wildflower planting
We mulched many many Trees planted on prior planting days
We planted 5 white oaks (just to keep the tradition)
We planted 10 Blue Versain (Verbena hastata) wildflowers to start our forest meadow in a cleared area
We discovered a grove of Cup Plant wildflowers planted in the early 2000s by us.
May 27th - We need your help - What we plan to do and plant!
We will be planting 100s of wildflowers, both seeds and small pots
We will continue clearing the meadow area of invasive plants
We will continue our mulching of Trees planting in prior years
We learn about Bees and Pollinators from Blake Retter (urban Bee Consultant)
A True Stewardship Project from Scouts, Kiwanis Key Clubbers and the BCG Green Team. Our Stewardship this year expands to the Wild Flower Forest Meadow.
