Our Arborist Stephen Smith has a full plan for us, focusing on Trees, Shrubs and evaluating our journey into Wildflowers on our immediate 2 prior to Planting days this Spring.
On his recent site survey visit to Seton woods, Steve has noted that our battle with invasive plant species has been largely successful, in the area we worked. He further noted this is really just the first step in an ongoing battle, being waged on similar sites throughout the city.
Essentially the Trees are doing great; the Wildflowers are a much longer-term challenge.
Wildflowers, can be very exciting though; see attached pictures of a group of 7 ft "Cup" plants. We found them near our planting area, from a prior planting 7 or 8 years ago.
Additionally, at this event, Steve has asked us to help undertake, an extended Count and site-Survey of Trees & Shrubs we have planted over the last 5 years. This is in line with a new thrust by the City of Toronto to encourage sites like Seton Woods.
